An Ancient Practice of the Tibetan Bön tradition
A Three Retreat training program at Chamma Ling
The soul is said to be composed of of the five elements of earth, water, fire, air and space as these elements pervade all of life and the essential components of our entire worldly existence. The Shamanic rites of soul retrieval (la lu) and life force retrieval (tse lu) are methods of calling on the essence of the the elements - elemental spirits- to balance and heal the individual.
It is believed that a traumatic event or other shock can cause an individual to loose connection with the elements and become dispirited.
Life force is the presence of energetic forces within one's self. It is possible to retrieve the soul and life force through the use of mind and symbols in ritual. Through ritual and meditational practice, one can bring back the positive qualities that are missing or reinforce qualities that are weakened in oneself or others.
In this series of teaching retreats we will learn the ancient Bön methods of divination, meditation, and ritual of Soul Retrieval as Geshe Denma Gyaltsen teaches these methods in 3 separate retreats at Chamma Ling. The first retreat will be late spring 2017, the second retreat fall 2017 and the third spring 2018. Stay tuned as our volunteer team is putting together all the details of this exciting opportunity.

Dzogchen, also known as the "great perfection," is a path of self-liberation and the highest form of teaching in the Bön tradition. For practitioners with the capacity it offers the potential for liberation during a single lifetime and within a single body. The Seven Mirrors of Dzogchen is a powerful heart-essence teaching from the Tibetan Bön tradition, offering a direct introduction to the clear, open awareness of the dzogchen view as well as methods for maintaining this state.
The seven mirrors are: the heart mirror of the view, the heart mirror of the meditation, the heart mirror of the result, the heart mirror of conduct, the heart mirror that explains the pure realms and lands of samsara, the heart mirror of six-fold consummation, and the heart mirror that explains the benefit of meeting with this teaching.

The House Blessing
September 2013 ~ Chamma Ling dedicated its new, beautiful Community House during the Sherab Chamma, fall retreat. Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, along with Geshe Yungdrung Gyaltsen, blessed the space, which was filled with many joyful sangha members, radiant with big smiles. All delighted in the beauty found in the well thought out design, bright paint choices, and multitude of windows with views in all directions.

Sherab Chamma, the Wisdom Loving Mother, is the embodiment of loving compassion.
As an enlightened deity, she manifests in many different forms according to the needs of practitioners.
The eight manifestations that are the focus of this series of meditations are all peaceful forms that help us overcome and transform different types of struggles and fears, such as challenges with enemies, fears of illness, struggles with the unknown, and the fear of death.
Through the power of Sherab Chamma’s wisdom and love, our fears are transformed into self arising wisdom and we are able to creatively embrace the many challenges of our lives.
Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche requests that sangha and friends worldwide accumulate the Long Life Mantra for His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. Read Tenzin Rinpoche's letter below.

Chamma Ling, Crestone, CO Geshe Nyima Kunchap Rinpoche will be visiting Crestone from Dolpo, Nepal, land of ancient Zhang Zhung and Bön, concluding a series of teachings of the Red Garuda. The archetype of the person who rises above all obstacles and obscurations, transforms themselves into an eagle and soars through the sky is found in many cultures throughout the world.
In the Bön tradition, the Garuda holds a special position of importance and reverence as an enlightened yidam, a wisdom being who emanates in forms of each of the five elements. The Red Garuda is associated with the fire element, and the wrathful wisdom that overcomes all obstacles and brings healing, protection, and positive transformation to all beings.

Geshe Nyima Kunchap Rinpoche will be visiting Crestone from Dolpo, Nepal, land of ancient Zhang Zhung and Bön, continuing our series of teachings of the Red Garuda. The archetype of the person who rises above all obstacles and obscurations, transforms themselves into an eagle and soars through the sky is found in many cultures throughout the world.
The Red Garuda is an enlightened wrathful yidam and path to enlightenment. In this retreat we will explore the practices of the Red Garuda that remove all inner and outer obstacles. All of us face many obstacles in our lives, with our physical health, work, family, circumstances, energetic blocks, and obstacles that we impose upon ourselves. All of these obstacles cause harm to body, mind and soul, and can slow or block our spiritual development. Geshe Kunchap will teach a powerful wrathful ritual that will dissolve all these obstacles, both within ourselves and within others, so that we may benefit all sentient beings.
